Strokes are caused by the blockage of blood flow in the brain. The most common cause of a stroke is high blood pressure. Strokes can be categorized into two types: ischemic and hemorrhagic.
Ischemic strokes are caused by an obstruction in the blood vessels that supply blood to the brain, usually due to a clot or narrowing of the vessel.
Hemorrhagic strokes are caused when a weakened artery ruptures and bleeds into the surrounding brain tissue, usually due to high blood pressure or uncontrolled diabetes.
